“My injury level is T3 complete paraplegia due to a motorcycle accident in August 2007.”

Were You Employed Pre-Injury?

“I was about 20 years old. I was working in a plastic factory as technician of control one recycling machine for a period of 2 years in Brazil.”

Current Job?

“My current job is a digital transformation analyst. I started in June 2022.”

Describe Your Job:

“Today I help with the internal business area designing new solutions for the business and translate the business requirement into applicable technology with digital transformation. My employer is the leader in the segment of personal computers, LENOVO.”

How Did You Find Your Current Job?

“When I moved to the US in 2019, I started my masters degree in information technology, and when I finished I started researching jobs in my area. I found a job in Texas at Texas Capital Bank as a System Business Analyst. While I was working there, I received a contact from a recruiter from Lenovo on my Linkedin, offering me an opportunity to participate in a hiring process with them. I accepted and after 3 interviews I was approved, and I moved to North Carolina.”

How Long Did You Search for Your Current Job?

“The recruiter found me, so I didn’t search this opportunity. My last job was at the Texas Bank. I researched during 3 months to find the opportunity and after a lot of interviews and rejection, I was approved on this job.”

“I believe a good Linkedin profile helped me reach my actual job. Also, studying in the specific field that I liked, technology, and sharing my knowledge on Linkedin helped me find my ideal job as well.”

What Kind of Disability Accommodations, If Any, Have You Requested and Received from Your Employer?

“Lenovo buildings are pretty accessible and inclusive for my needs, so I didn’t need to ask for any accommodations.”

Do You Have Tips for Getting Hired?

“I recommend continuing personal development, doing short trainings; e.g any course in your area and sharing contents on Linkedin related to these new skills and add people in your network with the same interest or job. And most importantly apply for new opportunities every day.”

Advice for Maintaining Employment Long-Term?

“Always look for opportunities to develop new skills and share them with your manager or in your Linkedin network.”

If You Could Go Back in Time, What Advice Would You Give Yourself Before Pursuing Your Career Path?

“Start to study new technologies that show up in marketing and share all skills on Linkedin.”
