How to Poo When You Have No Bowel Control After Spinal Cord Injury
Most people only think being paralyzed means you can't walk but in actual fact, there's so much more to it than that! One of the biggest issues almost every person with a spinal cord injury faces is loss of control of their bladder and bowels. This even affects most paraplegics who can walk! When you first have your spinal cord injury the realisation that you may poo yourself is pretty mortifying and it can really knock your confidence with going about your daily life, in case you have an accident in public. Luckily, with a bit of practice, it's quite possible to regain control of your bowels through routine and the use of suppositories, anal irrigation, manual evacuation and digital stimulation. In this video we discuss Craig's bowel routine and show you the different types of bowel management people may use to go for a poo after spinal cord injury.
