Original. Inspirational. And, downright, hilarious is how I would describe this comedian. And, "rollin' up" on stage, Damon Rozier is changing the face of comedy. Paralyzed after a motorcycle accident in 1997, Rozier decided to go into stand-up because, "[he'd] never seen anybody in a wheelchair do comedy." From an outrageous act that includes a sexy mock lap dance, he challenges--and shatters—the stereotypes you might not have known you had about wheelchair users. The Standouters caught up with Rozier just before his weekly gig hosting Stress Free Comedy Wednesdays at Brooklyn's Essence Bar & Lounge. He talks about his act, his book Surviving The Game of Life, racing in eight marathons, and what he wants you to take away after seeing his routine.
