Prior to his injury, Jerry was a very active man. He loved adrenaline and being a pilot. He flew over 30 combat missions as a fighter pilot with the RAF and later went on to fly commercial planes.
In 2007 during a getaway in Cancun, Jerry was caught in a freak accident when a wave hit him from behind, leaving him completely paralysed face down in the water.
Jerry hasn’t let his injury hold him back. He has done lots of fundraising for various channels, including being part of marathon teams and being a passenger in a stand plane.
However, like so many other people affected by spinal cord injury, Jerry has been continuously let down by the bowel care he has received in general healthcare settings, with massive impacts on his physical and mental health.
Jerry bravely agreed to tell his story to support SIA's #SeriousSh1t campaign to radically change the way the approach to bowel care for those affected by spinal cord injury whilst in general healthcare settings.
