This is my first edit as a paraplegic surfer.
When I suffered a spinal cord injury in a wipeout at Pipeline at the end of 2001 - paralysed from the waist down and sentenced to life in a wheelchair - I was told by doctors I would never surf again. And for more than 20 years, I believed them.
Now I’m back doing what I love and I couldn’t be happier. After only two years, I’m still learning how my body and surfboard works in the surf, but I’m having more fun than ever.
Surfing is different for me now and although unconventional to most, my aim is to continually progress and ultimately be recognised not only as a surfer with a disability, but as a surfer regardless.
Filmed at home over the last six months, I hope you enjoy my 2024 edit as much as I did making it.
