Michael-Ryan Pattison persevered through his severe cervical injury and started a foundation that went on to change countless lives. Read on for his story.
Why He’s Fearless
It was a diving accident on summer break from Washington State University on Lake Chetlan that changed Michael-Ryan’s life forever. He dove into a shallow area of the water and hit his head, breaking his neck. But his story doesn’t stop here.
Despite becoming a C4-5 quad with no movement below the collarbones, Michael-Ryan refocused his life to help others. Only a year after his injury, he founded The Michael-Ryan Pattison Foundation to help others like him get the equipment, care and family and peer support they need.
His foundation’s goal was to build a state-of-the art specialized restorative therapy center for spinal cord injuries in Seattle. To make the dream a reality, they raised money for years. Sadly the foundation is no longer active.
